Love And Love In Edgar Allan Poes Annabel Lee - 902 Words
Anyone who had the beautiful feeling of falling in love with somebody also has had the terrible feeling of when they lost their special person. In his poem, ââ¬Å"Annabel Leeâ⬠Edgar Allan Poe talks about losing a special person, how it must feel, and how almost everything they see reminds them of their loved one. Edgar Allan Poe was a type of poet who puts human lessons in his poems, whether about friends, love, a personââ¬â¢s journey etc. He brought the truth in every one of his poems and short stories. It has been speculated that the poem is about Poeââ¬â¢s wife, Virginia who died of tuberculosis four years into their marriage, but Poe didnââ¬â¢t leave any notes. By looking at imagery, setting, and tone in Poeââ¬â¢s poem ââ¬Å"Annabel Leeâ⬠, it is obvious thatâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦In the story, everything that happens, good or bad happens near the sea. It can be a way of the natural world communicating with the narrator. The story takes place in a big castle by the sea, possibly around the mid 1800s. There was no specific historical or cultural events that inspired Poe to write ââ¬Å"Annabel Lee. Poe was inspired mainly by his tumultuous life.This poem truly reflected his wife/cousin, Virginia. Their marriage was oddly short due to her dying of tuberculosis, so the idea of death, love, and beauty steamed off her. Poe makes a huge connection from the poem to real life situations about red flags in a relationship. In the poem, all the bad things that were happening were near the sea, which was hinting that this love the narrator has will not last long, similarly, in todayââ¬â¢s world, people are so mesmerized by the beauty of the person that they donââ¬â¢t see the signs or ignore them, which may hurt them later. Well maybe Poe is trying to say watch out for the red flags or signs in a relationship so that a person can be prepared for what may happen next.
